Overstruck on a Syracuse Drachm of Dionysios I (Athena; Rv. Dolphins flanking sea star [CNS II, 62], struck circa 405-367 BC). Helmeted head of Athena r.; [TYPPH] before; Rv. Athena standing facing, head l., holding spear in right hand and resting hand on grounded shield to right; [M or Σ in right field]. Castrizio series I, 1; Campana 1; CNS 1; HGC 2, 1657; SNG ANS 1167. Green patina. Very fine.
